Washington D.C. – May 5, 2021 – The GridWise Alliance today announced that two new members have been appointed to its Board of Directors, filling all positions on the 19-member board.
Rudolph Wynter, President, National Grid NY, brings a wealth of utility operational experience to the board. His perspective on how utilities are innovating to meet clean energy goals and build a resilient energy system will enhance and inform the Alliance’s activities promoting grid transformation.
Denise Galambos, Vice President, Utility Oversight, Exelon Corporation, leads the Exelon Utilities Policy Team. She brings to the Board of Directors a strategic vision for decarbonization and electrification.
“The addition of Ms. Galambos and Mr. Wynter to the GridWise Alliance Board is a continuation of our efforts to strengthen the diversity and strategic vision of our organization,” said GridWise Chair Gil C. Quiniones, New York Power Authority President and Chief Executive Officer. “Their appointments come at a critical time as GridWise Alliance and our new Grid Infrastructure Advisory Council focus on supporting the Biden Administration’s ambitious plans to expand and modernize the nation’s electric transmission and distribution systems to create jobs, ensure reliability and fight climate change.
“I look forward to working closely with our two new Directors and my other GridWise Alliance colleagues to drive effective change in the industry.”
“As we add new and diverse stakeholders to the GridWise family, we are strengthening our mission to be the leading voice on transforming our nation’s electric grid to support a decarbonized economy,” said Karen Wayland, CEO of the GridWise Alliance. “Denise, Rudy and their teams will bring tremendous value to GridWise and its members as we continue to spotlight the benefits an optimized grid will have for resilience, reliability, security and energy equity.”
The GridWise Alliance recently developed a Grid Investments for Economic Recovery initiative that calls for $50 billion in federal funding to strengthen the nation’s electric transmission and distribution systems and related efforts to create jobs and promote clean energy.
The GridWise Alliance represents the broad and diverse stakeholders that design, build and operate the electric grid. Since 2003, the Alliance has been at the forefront of educating legislators and regulators about the critical need to modernize our nation’s electricity system.
