GridWise Alliance Welcomes New Members, Vice-Chair to its Board of Directors

December 19, 2017 News

Washington D.C. – December 19, 2017 – The GridWise Alliance today announced seven new and returning members to its Board of Directors, all of whom are strongly committed to advancing the organization’s efforts to build and expand activities to support modernizing our Nation’s electric grid. Five new Directors replace Directors whose two-year terms were completed, while two of the Directors were voted to serve a second term.

“The diversity within our Board of Directors reflects the range of stakeholders within the Alliance who are dedicated to our mission,” said Steve Hauser, President and CEO of the GridWise Alliance. “I look forward to working with the new Directors to continue our thought leadership on critical grid modernization issues with key industry stakeholders.”

The new and returning GridWise Alliance Board members, who will serve two-year terms, include:

  • Stephen Callahan
    Vice President, Global Strategy, Energy, Environment and Utilities, IBM, elected to second term;
  • Kerrick Johnson
    Founder and Chief Ecosystem Officer, Utpous Insights, elected to second term;
  • Joe Kelliher
    Executive Vice President – Federal Regulatory Affairs, NextEra Energy, Inc.;
  • Lee Krevat
    Director, New Ventures, PXiSE Energy Solutions;
  • Dan Pfeiffer
    Vice President of Government Affairs, Itron;
  • Gil Quiniones
    President and CEO, New York Power Authority (NYPA).

In addition, Calvin G. Butler Jr., Chief Executive Officer, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE), joins the Alliance’s Board of Directors as its sixth Vice-Chair, replacing Terry Oliver, Bonneville Power Authority (BPA), who announced his retirement earlier this year.

“As activities to support grid modernization accelerate, it is imperative that organizations like the GridWise Alliance attract leaders with new ideas and perspectives,” said Scott Prochazka, President and CEO, CenterPoint Energy and Chair of the GridWise Alliance. “Our new board members bring this type of innovative thinking and leadership to the Board of Directors. I look forward to working with Calvin Butler, in his role as Vice-Chair, as the Alliance continues to drive grid modernization in support of evolving customer needs.”
