FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chevy Chase, MD, 6/06/2014 – On Monday June 9, Davies Consulting managing partner Miki Deric will facilitate a CEO panel discussion titled Grid Resilience: Preparing for Uncertainty as part of the Edison Electric Institute’s 2014 Annual Convention in Las Vegas.
The panel includes four CEOs whose companies have extensive experience dealing with severe storms:
- Leo Denault, Chairman and CEO, Entergy
- John McAvoy, President and CEO, Consolidated Edison
- John Ramil, President and CEO, TECO Energy
- Joe Rigby, Chairman, President and CEO, Pepco
Each will speak from real-world experience leading companies through storm response and other grid resiliency challenges. As the frequency and intensity of severe weather increases, this is a hot topic for today’s utilities, their customers and shareholders, as well as regulators.
Electric utilities place a high priority on ensuring safe, reliable power, striving to reduce outage frequency and durations in the wake of extreme events. Mr. Deric will facilitate discussion of resiliency and storm hardening efforts in the wake of high-impact storms like Katrina and Sandy. The panel will focus on how utilities are addressing grid reliability and customer expectations through infrastructure investments intended to minimize storm impacts and through collaboration with stakeholders (including government) to prepare for extreme events.
For more than 10 years, Mr. Deric has been working with utilities in every region of the U.S. to help them address these types of challenges. As a member of The GridWise Alliance Board of Directors, he is well-versed in resiliency issues and understands the complexities of utility planning and operations.
